About Us

“A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is a tree like without roots.”

– Malcolm Garvey

Indian Folk Art has a great tradition of documenting history through the textured passage of time, wherein the large canvas of the country has been coloured by various dynasties, tribes, and kings.

The various art forms have aptly fulfilled their responsibility of showcasing the fabric of society of their times. They have given us an insight into the social, political and humanitarian order of the time in a visually appealing way.

Art Tree wants to bring forth the beauty of Indian Folk Art to a larger audience. The aim is not only to showcase the artworks depicting Indian culture and heritage, but also to educate people about the traditions, rituals, and nuances associated with them.

Art Tree – an initiative to promote art and artists nearly eight years ago.  Art, whether early, primal or modern, must have a contemporary and current context, particularly
for art impresarios. It’s essential to construct innovative and creative exhibitions that appeal to a wide cross-section of the general public.

Art Tree, today, not only supports artists who practice traditional Indian Art, but also nurtures their extraordinary talent to reach out a large audience by holding exhibitions, panel discussions with the aim of informing and educating the public.

Art Tree follows a very holistic approach towards traditional Indian Art – to interpret art as the means by which the artistic community develops for itself a medium for self-expression and understanding and  not only to showcase what is visible, but also bring to forth the rituals, traditions and the finer nuances associated with it.

Art Tree is very aptly supported and guided by Mr Arnab Banerjee –Art, Music and
Film critic.
